ਟਰੰਪ ਵਲੋਂ ਬ੍ਰੈਗਜ਼ਿਟ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਨੂੰ ‘ਠੋਸ ਸੰਧੀ’ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਸ਼

ਲੰਡਨ, ਜੂਨ 2019 ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਡੋਨਲਡ ਟਰੰਪ ਨੇ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਟੈਰੇਜ਼ਾ ਮੇਅ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬ੍ਰੈਗਜ਼ਿਟ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਹ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ‘ਬਹੁਤ, ਬਹੁਤ ਠੋਸ ਵਪਾਰਕ ਸੰਧੀ’ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਇਛੁੱਕ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਸਥਾਨ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਟਰੰਪ ਵਿਰੁਧ ਨਾਅਰੇ ਲਾਏ ਗਏ। ਟਰੰਪ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਦੌਰੇ ਦੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਦਿਨ ਨਾਸ਼ਤੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਕਾਰੋਬਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਪਰੰਤ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਟੈਰੇਜ਼ਾ ਮੇਅ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਰਤਾਨਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ‘ਆਪਣੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ’ਤੇ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿਣ’ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੀਂ ਵਪਾਰਕ ਸੰਧੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ।
ਟੈਰੇਜ਼ਾ ਮੇਅ, ਜਿਸ ਵਲੋਂ ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਰਸਮੀ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਬਰਤਾਨਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਤੀਫ਼ਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਸਹਿਮਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕਠਿਆਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ‘ਬਹੁਤ ਮੌਕੇ’ ਹਨ।
ਟਰੰਪ ਦੀ ਲੰਡਨ ਦੇ ਸੇਂਟ ਜੇਮਜ਼ ਪੈਲੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਪਾਰਕ ਸਬੰਧਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵੱਡੇ ਕਾਰੋਬਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਾਊਨਿੰਗ ਸਟਰੀਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਟੈਰੇਜ਼ਾ ਮੇਅ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਲਈ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਫ਼ਲਾ ਵੱਡੇ ਗੁਬਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਪੁਤਲੇ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਸੈਲ ਬੱਚੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਨੇੜਿਓਂ ਵੀ ਲੰਘਿਆ। ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਾਊਨਿੰਗ ਸਟਰੀਟ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪਾਰਲੀਮੈਂਟ ਸਕੁਏਅਰ ਨੇੜੇ ਇੱਕਤਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰੋਸ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਆਗੂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੁਲਕ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਟਰੰਪ ਦੇ ਵੰਡ-ਪਾਊ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਰੁਧ ਨਾਅਰੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਕੀਤੀ।

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau says gender equality ‘under attack’

Vancouver, June 2019-(Jan Shakti News) Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday said gender equality is “under attack”, and warned of declining women’s rights, at a major conference on the subject. “Progress can backslide. We’re seeing it happen. Gender equality is under attack. And I can only imagine how hard it is to be a feminist on the frontlines,” he said in an opening address to the Women Deliver conference in Vancouver. “Individuals and interest groups are trying to roll back women’s rights,” Trudeau said without giving names. He warned that “politicians are giving into the pressure, shamefully campaigning to undo women’s hard-won victories”. The three-day Vancouver conference has brought together 8,000 participants, including leaders, activists, academics and journalists from 150 countries to discuss gender equality. Trudeau has made the issue a priority of his government, which faces parliamentary elections in October. After taking office in 2015 he formed a cabinet with equal numbers of male and female ministers. Earlier on Monday, Trudeau attended the unveiling of a report that concluded that perhaps thousands of indigenous women were victims of endemic violence that amounted to “genocide”. The day before, his government announced funding of Can $ 300 million (US $ 223 million) for women’s rights organisations in Canada and overseas.

Eight infants dead after AC failure in Pakistan hospital

Islamabad, June 3,2019 At least eight infants died due to the alleged failure of the air-conditioning system in a hospital in Pakistan, officials said. Sahiwal Deputy Commissioner Zaman Wattoo had written a letter to the Punjab government's Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department recounting the chain of events allegedly leading to the infants' deaths, mainly due the failure of the AC system, reports Xinhua news agency. The official said that he received an emergency call late Saturday night from an attendant of a patient, informing him that infants had started dying due to non-functioning of the AC system in the paediatric ward of the District Headquarters Hospital Sahiwal. "I hurriedly reached at the ward and found the AC system was out of order which had resulted in abnormal indoor temperature," said the official. He further added that there might be a possibility of several other deaths caused by the AC failure that have not been reported.

UK PM hopeful Hunt would pursue no-deal Brexit if there was ‘no alternative’

London, June 3,2019 British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said he would be prepared to take the United Kingdom out of the European Union without a deal if there was no alternative. Hunt however added he would do so only with a “heavy heart.” Hunt is in the running to replace Theresa May as prime minister. "In the end, if the only way to leave the European Union, to deliver on the result of the referendum, was to leave without a deal, then I would do that," he told BBC Radio. "But I would do so very much as a last resort, with a heavy heart because of the risks to businesses and the risks to the union. "I would be prepared to do it in extremis but I wouldn't do it if there was a prospect of a better deal and I think there is a prospect of a better deal and I think it's possible to get one before October 31, although I don't pretend it's going to be easy."

ਲੰਡਨ, ਜੂਨ 2019 ਲੰਡਨ ਦੇ ਮੇਅਰ ਸਾਦਿਕ ਖਾਨ ਨੇ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਡੋਨਲਡ ਟਰੰਪ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਮਰਥਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਰਤੀ ਗਈ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਸਬੰਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਰੰਪ ਨੂੰ 20ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦਾ ਫਾਸ਼ੀਵਾਦੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ। ਲੰਡਨ ਦੇ ਮੇਅਰ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਬਿਆਨ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਏ ਰਹੇ ਬਰਤਾਨਵੀ ਦੌਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਦਿ ਗਾਰਡੀਅਨ ਦੇ ਰਸਾਲੇ ਅਬਜ਼ਰਵਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੱਜ ਸਾਦਿਕ ਖਾਨ ਨੇ ਟਰੰਪ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਮਲੇਨੀਆ ਟਰੰਪ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੌਰੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਟਰੰਪ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਐਲਿਜ਼ਾਬੈਥ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਖਾਨ ਨੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ‘‘ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਡੋਨਲਡ ਟਰੰਪ ਵਧਦੇ ਦੁਨਿਆਵੀ ਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਉਦਹਾਰਨ ਹੈ। ਸੱਜੇ ਪੱਖੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਬਜ਼ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਹੱਕਾਂ, ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦੀ ਪਰਿਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਾਂ ਤੇ 70 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਚੱਲੀ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਲਈ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਹਨ।

ਖਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ‘‘ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਏ ਖ਼ੌਫ਼ਨਾਕ ਦਹਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਹਮਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਲੰਡਨ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੋਸ਼ਣ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਬਰਤਾਨਵੀ ਸੱਜੇ ਪੱਖੀ ਜਾਤੀਵਾਦੀ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਦੇ ਟਵੀਟ ਦੀ ਤਾਇਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ 2017 ਵਿੱਚ ਲੰਡਨ ’ਚ ਹੋਏ ਦਹਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਹਮਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਟਰੰਪ ਨੇ ਖਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਦੀ ਦੱਸਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਦਹਿਸ਼ਤਗਰਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਨਜਿੱਠਣ ਲਈ ਖਾਨ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਖਾਨ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕਰਮ ਟਰੰਪ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸ਼ਨਿਚਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ‘ਦਿ ਗਾਰਡੀਅਨ’ ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਇਆ। ਇਸ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਰੰਪ ਨੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਜੋਹਨਸਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਅਗਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਬਣਨ ਲਈ ਹੱਲਾਸ਼ੇਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ।

US state of Virginia, killing 11 people and wounding six

Washington, June 2019 A longtime public utilities employee sprayed gunfire “indiscriminately” in a government building complex in Virginia Beach, in the US state of Virginia, killing 11 people and wounding six, police said. The gunman was also killed after trading fire with responding officers, police chief James Cervera told a news conference on Friday. “We have 11 deceased victims there at the scene, six more victims transported to area hospitals,” he said, adding that the condition of those wounded was not immediately available. The shooting happened just after 4 pm (local time), when the gunman entered one of the buildings at the Virginia Beach municipal complex and “immediately began to indiscriminately fire on all of the victims,” Cervera said. The wounded included a police officer, who was saved by his bulletproof vest. “This is the most devastating day in the history of Virginia Beach,” Mayor Bobby Dwyer told reporters. “The people involved are our friends, co-workers, neighbours and colleagues.”

The building where the shooting took place in Virginia Beach, a city on the east coast of the US about 200 miles (320 kilometres) southeast of Washington, housed the city’s public works and utilities offices. Multiple law-enforcement agencies, including the FBI, were working the scene on Friday night due to its “size, scope, intensity,” Cervera said. “Right now we have a lot of questions. The whys, they will come later. Right now we have more questions than we have answers.” According to the Washington-based Gun Violence Archive monitoring group, Friday’s shooting was the 150th mass shooting in the United States this year, defined as a single event in which four or more people are shot or killed. Despite the scale of gun violence across the nation, gun ownership laws are lax and efforts to address the issue legislatively have long been deadlocked at the federal level.

Megan Blanton told The Virginian-Pilot newspaper that she was in the building when the shooting began. She and several co-workers hid in an office, where they used a desk to wedge the door shut. “It felt like forever,” Blanton said. In the 1992 World Cup, New Zealand off-spinner Dipak Patel had bowled the second over during a match against Australia. Tahir (40 years and 64 days) also became the oldest South African to play in a World Cup match. The previous record was held by his compatriot Omar Henry (40 years and 39 days). Henry was picked to play against Sri Lanka in Wellington during the 1992 World Cup.

Rashid Khan has already established himself as one of the best spinners in T20 leagues. The flashy Mohammed Shahzad, free-flowing Hazratullah Zazai, Hashmatullah Shahidi and the veteran Mohammed Nabi are capable of producing eye-catching performances. For Bangladesh, at least a semi-final finish is something that their passionate fans expect. Mashrafe Mortaza is a very popular captain who has world’s premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan at his disposal along with seasoned campaigners like Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah Riyadh and Mushfiqur Rahim, all keen to make a mark at the global stage. The only team which is looking out of depth is Sri Lanka, who only have Lasith Malinga’s experience. ਲੰਡਨ , ਮਈ 2019 ਯੂਰਪੀ ਯੂਨੀਅਨ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਨਾਈਜੇਲ ਫੇਰੇਜ ਦੀ ਬ੍ਰੈਗਜ਼ਿਟ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਰਪੀ ਸੰਸਦ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਮਿਲੀ। ਜਦਕਿ ਸੱਤਾਧਾਰੀ ਕੰਜ਼ਰਵੇਟਿਵ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਝਟਕਾ ਲੱਗਾ। ਚੋਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਯੂਰਪੀ ਯੂਨੀਅਨ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਬ੍ਰਿਟੇਨ ਦੇ ਵੋਟ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ 3 ਸਾਲ ਬਾਅਦ ਵੀ ਕਾਇਮ ਮਤਭੇਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਲਿਆ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਯੂਰਪੀ ਯੂਨੀਅਨ ਸਮਰਥਕ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਡੈਮੋਕ੍ਰੈਟਸ ਅਤੇ ਗ੍ਰੀਨ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਮਿਲੀ। ਐਤਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਬੀਤੇ ਹਫਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਥੈਰੇਸਾ ਮੇਅ ਨੇ ਸਮੇਂ 'ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰੈਗਜ਼ਿਟ ਨਾ ਹੋ ਪਾਉਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਅਸਤੀਫੇ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਫੇਰੇਜ ਨੇ ਫਰਵਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦਾ ਰਜਿਸਟਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਐਲਾਨੇ ਨਤੀਜਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਪਲਬਧ 73 ਸੀਟਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ 28 ਸੀਟਾਂ ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ 32 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਵੋਟ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੇ। ਥੈਰੇਸਾ ਮੇਅ ਦੀ ਕੰਜ਼ਰਵੇਟਿਵ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੂੰ 9 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਵੋਟ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ 1832 ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਕਿਸੇ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਖਰਾਬ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਬ੍ਰੈਗਜ਼ਿਟ 'ਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਭਰਮਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵੋਟ ਹਿੱਸੇਦਾਰੀ ਵੀ ਘੱਟ ਕੇ ਕਰੀਬ 14 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ। ਯੂਰਪੀ ਯੂਨੀਅਨ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ 2016 ਵਿਚ ਮੋਹਰੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਫੇਰੇਜ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬ੍ਰਸੇਲਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਨਵੇਂ ਸਮਝੌਤੇ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦਾ ਪੱਖ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਟਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਕਾਬੂ

ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ,ਮਈ 2019. ਇੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਭਾਰਤੀ ’ਤੇ ਗੈਰ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਪਰਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਤੋਂ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਭੇਜਣ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੈ। ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ (30) ਨੂੰ ਸਰਹੱਦੀ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਏਜੰਟ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਸਟਮ ਤੇ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਨਾਲ ਫੜਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸੰਘੀ ਵਕੀਲ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ’ਤੇ 2200 ਡਾਲਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਦੋ ਗ਼ੈਰ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਪਰਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਭੇਜਣ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਹੈਲੀਕਾਪਟਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਨੇ ਸੇਂਟ ਲਾਰੈਂਸ ਨਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਹਨ ਨੂੰ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਵਾਹਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕ ਦੇ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਲਿਆ। ਫਿਲਾਡੇਲਫੀਆ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਫੈਡਰਲ ਮੈਜਿਸਟਰੇਟ ਜੱਜ ਡੇਵਿਡ ਪੀਬਲ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਲਤ ’ਚ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿੱਥੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ’ਚ ਲੈਣ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ। ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਡੋਨਲਡ ਟਰੰਪ ਨੇ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਗ਼ੈਰਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਦਾਖ਼ਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਜਸਟਿਨ ਟਰੂਡੋ ਨੇ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਫ਼ੈਸਲੇ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਗ਼ੈਰਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਪਰਵਸੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਖਲੇ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹਨ।

8 in fray to replace May as British PM

London, May 2019-(Giani Amrik Singh Rathoar)- At least eight candidates, including hard Brexiteer Boris Johnson, have joined the fray to battle it out to take over the reins from British Prime Minister Theresa May as the UK’s ruling Conservative Party leadership contest gets underway. While Johnson, the former foreign secretary, is seen as the frontrunner to succeed May, the contest still remains wide open to at least seven other contenders. May had announced her resignation earlier this week and is set to formally step down as Tory leader and PM on June 7, after a three-day state visit to the UK by US President Donald Trump. The formal segment of the party leadership contest will then kick off on June 10, but prospective candidates have already begun laying out their bids for the top job. UK environment secretary Michael Gove became the latest Tory MP to announce his intention to challenge Johnson on Sunday. Gove’s decision is reminiscent of the 2016 leadership race, when he was accused of betraying Johnson by withdrawing his support for him and choosing to contest himself. It led to Johnson withdrawing his bid and Gove went on to lose out in the party ballot, resulting in May being chosen for the post. Among some of the other contenders eyeing Downing Street include the former Brexit secretary, Dominic Raab, and former Commons leader Andrea Leadsom - both of whom confirmed their leadership bids in different Sunday newspapers. They joined UK foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt, international development secretary Rory Stewart, health secretary Matt Hancock, and former work and pensions secretary Esther McVey, in the battle for the leadership.
