Reetika Madaan was bestowed as a Founding Curator of World Economic forum Ludhiana hub in December 2020. She is the first-ever and youngest femalefrom the city to be featured on World Economic forum. The hub members under the leadership of the Reetika Madaan, along with the support of partner organization Smart Citizens of Ludhiana, founded by Mr. Sumit Sharma, and local government officials initiated on-ground project” A PeDDLE for Change - Pedalling way to greener city” to demand better infrastructure for cyclists in Ludhiana. They organized cycle rallies involving over 100+ youth and senior citizens of Ludhiana, which sensitized the people to be more aware and cautious of what city and future needs. The drive not only encouraged more citizens to use a cycle for commuting but also made them aware of demanding the right things from authorities. The campaign reached over 80000+ views collaboratively using social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp
Global Shapers Community under the aegis of world economic forum is a network of young people driving dialogue, action, and change. The global organization works on local levels and local projects. It has 448 hubs in major cities across more than 150 countries in the world.
“The Ludhiana hub projects are under the areas including art and culture, cities and urbanisation, climate change, education, gender equality and sustainable development, etc. Those youngsters under the age of 27 who are willing to work four to five hours a week are welcome to join,” said Reetika who recently attended Annual Curators Meeting (ACM) 2021 , organised by the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of World Economic Forum in Geneva, Switzerland. She learnt about current projects and initiatives driven by Young Global Leaders and Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneurs. She further said she had been working on several public policy and edtech projects with Govt of Punjab and haryana and has attended several international forums as a virtual speaker including innovation, technology, international business, motivation and entrepreneurship.
