Death of 21-year-old youth with Chita (drugs) , Sherewal village in Punjab

18 ਮਾਰਚ ਬੇਟ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਫੈਲੇ ਮਕੜ ਜਾਲ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਇਕ ਹੋਰ 21 ਸਾਲਾ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਲਪੇਟ ਵਿਚ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਇਆ। ਦਰਿਆ ਸਤਲੁਜ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ’ਤੇ ਵਸੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਸ਼ੇਰੇਵਾਲ ਦੇ ਬਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਵ: ਮੁਖਤਿਆਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੀ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਦੀ ਭੇਟ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਿਆ। ਬਲਾਕ ਸੰਮਤੀ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਘੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਸਰਪੰਚ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਬਲਜੀਤ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਦਾ ਆਦੀ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਛੁਡਾਊ ਕੇਂਦਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਪਰ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿਚ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਿਆ ਵਗਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੀ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ। ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਚੱਲਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲਾ ਪੀਲੀਆ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਲਪੇਟ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ। ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਤੰਗੀ ਦੇ ਚੱਲਦਿਆਂ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਮਰਥਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਕਰਨ ਕਾਰਨ ਅੱਜ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
Another 21-year-old youth was killed today in Bet area. Baljit Singh son of Sherewal village on the bank of river Sutlej also died. Block committee member Jeevan Singh Baghian and village sarpanch Mangal Singh said that Baljit was addicted to drugs. It was also taken to de-addiction centers several times. But due to the river of drugs flowing in the village, Baljit Singh continued to consume Chita as before. As a result of which black jaundice took hold of him. He died today at his home due to his family's inability to get treatment due to financial hardship and his constant drug addiction.
