Delhi 1 September (Jan Shakti News ) Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved a jatha of 3,000 Sikh pilgrims to travel to Pakistan for the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, following a request the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee filed on July 1. The pilgrims will cross via the Wagah border, departing on November 22 and returning December 1, a ten-day journey timed to the Guru’s birth anniversary.
The itinerary takes the sangat to Gurdwara Janam Asthan Sri Nankana Sahib, Gurdwara Sacha Sauda, Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib and Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore, retracing sites central to the Guru’s life on the other side of the border that divided Punjab in 1947.
Every year, families across Ludhiana district, including Jagraon, apply through SGPC and DSGMC channels hoping for a place on the jatha, since a pilgrimage to these gurdwaras remains, for many, a once-in-a-lifetime spiritual journey connecting Indian Punjab’s sangat to the land where the Guru was born and lived.
