The Ludhiana district Health Department has placed more than 40 localities on high alert after surveillance identified them as breeding grounds for the Aedes mosquito, the vector responsible for dengue, and for malaria-carrying mosquitoes, as the district enters the peak monsoon transmission window.

Officials say they have intensified larvicidal spraying, fogging drives, and door-to-door checks for stagnant water in the flagged neighbourhoods, and are urging residents to empty coolers, flowerpots, and any containers that collect rainwater. Early symptoms of dengue include high fever, severe joint and muscle pain, and rash, and residents are being advised to seek testing promptly rather than self-medicate.

Jagraon falls within Ludhiana district's public health net, and local civil hospital staff and seva-minded gurdwara committees in the sub-division have in past seasons supported fogging drives and awareness camps; residents are being encouraged to coordinate with the block health office if stagnant water sites are spotted near their mohalla or fields.
