ALLOWS VACCINATION FOR JOURNALISTS, EMPLOYEES OF ALL BANKS, SCHOOLS, NGOS, JUDICIAL OFFICERS, COURT STAFF, ADVOCATES, FOOD GRAIN AGENCIES AS FRONTLINE WORKERS

ACCELERATED VACCINATION TO HELP IN CONTAINING UPTICK COVID CASES IN LUDHIANA

URGES PEOPLE TO BE CAREFUL/ BE WATCHFUL AS PANDEMIC IS NOT OVER YET AND EMBRACE VACCINE 

Ludhiana, March 15-2021(Iqbal Singh Rasulpur)- 

Further expanding the Covid vaccination ambit, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Monday took a major decision in the larger public interest to ensure the safety of the wider population from the Covid pandemic by allowing vaccination for the journalists, employees of all government/private banks, government/private schools, staff of food grain agencies, judicial officers/court staff/advocates, members of the Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) who have worked to check spread of Covid19 pandemic by registering them as frontline workers. 

The move comes after Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma presided over a meeting of the District Task Force to stem steep rise by accelerating the vaccination drive to face the pandemic in full blast. 

He said that all government/private banks, government/private schools, food grain agencies, judicial officers/courts staff/advocates, members of the Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) by registering them as frontline workers as they all have worked tirelessly

during the pandemic and have discharged their duties as frontline workers either online or offline modes. 

He said that for vaccination, they need to carry the official ID and Aadhar Card and can get Covid jab at the session sites set up in the government/private hospitals. He said that for a vaccine shot, one has to pay authorised charges fixed by the government. 

Deputy Commissioner directed the health department to further step up the vaccination drive to ensure all eligible can be covered and can have smooth access to the vaccine.

He exhorted all the eligible people to give topmost priority for getting the vaccine at the earliest. 

Further urging to people to be careful/be watchful as the Covid is not over yet and if the people want to remain free of virus, they have to strictly follow Covid appropriate behaviour including wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing and washing hand/using sanitisers frequently.

He appealed the people to not to lower guard at any cost and help the administration in the battle against the invisible enemy
