VILLAGES HAVING HIGH TDS VALUE TO BE COVERED FIRST
RESIDENTS THANK CHIEF MINISTER CAPT AMARINDER SINGH FOR THIS INITIATIVE

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr Sandeep Kumar has informed that eight villages of district Ludhiana would soon have reverse osmosis (RO) systems. He said that these RO systems are being installed in these 8 villages with the help of a National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) funded project.
The villages where the RO systems are being installed are Begowal, Daburji, Gidri, Sirthala, Aloona Palla, Kauri, Bains and Bhattian Dhaha. These RO systems are being installed with a cost of around Rs 88 lakh.
It is pertinent to mention that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had launched ‘Har Ghar Pani, Har Ghar Safai’ mission as part of Punjab government’s campaign to accomplish the goal of 100% potable water supply in all the rural households of the state by March next year, thus making Punjab the first state in the country to achieve this distinction.
ADC (Development) Mr Sandeep Kumar informed that under this project, villages having high total dissolved solids (TDS) have been chosen. He said that the main aim of this project is to ensure that the residents of these villages get potable drinking water. He said that under the ‘Har Ghar Pani, Har Ghar Safai’ mission of the Punjab government, residents of these 8 villages would have water purifier reverse osmosis (RO) plants as currently, they are not having access to safe drinking water due to heavy metal contamination in groundwater.
Hardyal Singh and Surinder Singh of village Begowal informed that due to the presence of high TDS in groundwater, they had no access to potable drinking water. They said that residents had to install RO systems in their houses out of their own pocket, which was a big burden on everyone as all people cannot afford it. He said that some people even used to fall sick due to absence of potable drinking water.
Karam Singh, Sarpanch of village Aloona Palla thanked Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for starting the ‘Har Ghar Pani, Har Ghar Safai’ mission, under which potable drinking water would be provided to the residents.
