Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr Sandeep Kumar today assured the residents that the Covid 19 vaccine is totally safe. He said that he, along with several other senior District Administration and Police officials, got vaccinated today and all of them are feeling totally fine. He also urged the residents not to believe any rumours spread on social media regarding the Covid 19 vaccine.

The ADC (D) was interacting with the residents during the weekly Facebook live session on the official page of District Public Relations Office Ludhiana.

During his interaction, he said that along with him, Commissioner of Police Mr Rakesh Agrawal, MC Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, DCP Law and Order Mr Ashwani Kapoor, and several other senior officials have got vaccinated at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, here. He said that none of the people who got vaccinated for Covid 19 vaccine have developed any side effects and all of them resumed their offices after vaccination.

He further said that General elections of Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats would be held in Khanna, Jagraon, Samrala, Raikot, Doraha, Payal, by election in Ward number 8 (General) of Mullanpur Dakha, and by election in Ward Number 6 of Sahnewal in Ludhiana District would be held and the voters and political parties should adhere to the Covid related protocols in the larger interest of public.

He said that the process for filing nominations completed today. He said that a total of 645 nominations have been filed. He informed that 262 nominations have been filed for Khanna, 122 for Jagraon, 73 for Samrala, 62 for Raikot, 72 for Doraha, 46 for Payal, 2 for Mullanpur Dakha and 6 for Sahnewal.

He said that the nominations would be scrutinised on 4 February, 2021 while the date of withdrawal of nominations is 5 February, 2021 which would also be the date of allotting the election symbols to the candidates.

The election campaigning will end on February 12, 2021 at 5 PM. The voting would be held on 14 February 2021 from 8 Am to 4 PM. Counting of votes would be done on 17 February, 2021.

He further said that the expenditure limit for a candidate of Municipal Corporation has been fixed as Rs 3 Lakh, for candidate of Municipal Council Class-I, Rs 2.70 Lakh, Class-II Rs 1.70 Lakh, Class-III Rs 1.45 Lakh and candidates for Nagar Panchayats Rs.1.05 Lakh. He further said that keeping in view the COVID-19, SOP containing detailed guidelines to be adopted during the election process was issued on 10-12-2020.

He assured the parents of students attending schools not to worry as the District Administration is keeping a close watch for their safety. He said that all the school authorities have been strictly told to follow all Covid related guidelines in the interest of children. He also urged the parents of students attending classes in schools, to ensure that their children follow all Covid related guidelines to stay safe. He assured that the classes in schools have been started to ensure that studies of students do not suffer.
