DC DIRECTS OFFICIALS TO EXPEDITE PROCESS FOR CONFERRING PROPERTY RIGHTS TO SLUM DWELLER

 Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Friday said that the district administration has identified 658 beneficiaries in eight slums of the city under the Basera scheme to whom ownership rights would be conferred from next week. 

Presiding over a meeting to review the progress of CM Grant of Proprietary Rights to Slum Dwellers (Basera Scheme), Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to expedite formalities regard NOCs from the concern departments and others to ensure every slum dweller get the benefits of the Basera scheme from coming week by following strict adherence to the Covid protocols and norms. 

He said after verification drive in eight slums, 70 beneficiaries in Baba Jiwan Singh Nagar, nine in Bhola Colony, 85 beneficiaries in Preet Nagar, 303 beneficiaries in Ambedkar Nagar, 26 beneficiaries in Chet Singh Nagar, 30 near Sidhwan Canal, six in Muslim Colony, and 129 in Sanjay Gandhi Colony have been identified. Further, he said that the four more slums have been found in wards 21, 12, and two in ward-15 and asked the officials to send the details of slums identified to the government and initiate the verification of the beneficiaries. 

Sharma termed the program as a landmark step towards urban development by giving proprietary rights to every slum household occupying the state government land in a slum of any city area. 

He said that the program also aims at transforming urban slum areas with basic civic amenities, including potable drinking water, street lighting, and roads to slum dwellers.

He added that under this scheme, those living in slum areas, in houses of a maximum size of 30 sq yard will be benefitted from ownership of the house.

He asked the officials to ensure that every slum dweller gets the benefit of the scheme, which will make Ludhiana slum-free and everyone would lead a comfortable life.

Dr Amar Singh MP Shri Fatehgarh Sahib met the Chairman National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Mr Sukhbir Singh (IAS) and put across various demands being raised by farmers whose lands are being acquired for new greenfield Sirhind-Mohali and Ludhiana Bhatinda expressways. 

During the meeting held at New Delhi, Fair remuneration, access to underpasses-service roads and ensuring continued irrigation for fields divided by expressways was among the various issues discussed. 

Dr Singh stressed in the meeting that nothing is more important than the welfare of our farmers and requested the Chairman NHAI to ensure that the demands being raised by the landowners be addressed by senior officers at the earliest. The Chairman NHAI assured him that the issues raised by landowners would be addressed at the earliest.

Working shoulder to shoulder with state government in the war against Covid-19 pandemic by intensifying vaccination drive, 

the Punjab Youth Development Board (PYDB) under the chairmanship of Sukhwinder Singh Bindra has so far organised a total of 16 Covid19 vaccination camps in the district till date.

On Thursday, Bindra inaugurated 4 such camps at Guru Kirpa Welfare Society (GK Vihar - Dhandra road), Maharana Partap Rajput Sabha, Mata Rani Mandir, Kartar Chowk, Gyan Niketan School Deep Colony and Asraa Charitable Society. 

While speaking to media persons on the occasion, Sukhwinder Singh Bindra  thanked organizers for organising such vaccination camps.

Sukhwinder Singh Bindra said that the PYDB is making concerted efforts to administer the dose of the Covid19 vaccine to all eligible people and PYDB would leave no stone unturned to ensure speedy coverage of the those eligible at the earliest.

The Chairman said that only accelerated vaccination drive can help to build herd immunity resulting in breaking the transmission chain of the infectious disease.

He also thanked industrialists for always supporting the PYDB and Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government in several welfare schemes.

He said that thousands of sports kits were provided to the PYDB by the industry and they have been helpful for the youth. He said that now that vaccination drive is going on in the state, he wanted to that the industry by organising special camps in their premises so that all their workforce gets vaccinated and stay safe.

Bindra added the Punjab Government is running the inoculation drive on the war-footing level and now it is the social responsibility of the people to fulfil it by getting the shot. He said that Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government is committed for providing best healthcare facilities to its residents.

‘UMEED’ – the Annual Job Fair of Synetic Business School (SBS College) was organized with full enthusiasm at SBS Campus on Chandigarh Road, here, following complete COVID-19 protocols. Candidates were divided in slots and interviews were conducted in batches maintaining all precautions. Umeed Job Fair offers a platform for job seekers and industry looking for candidates to manage and grow their business. 

The job fair was organised in collaboration with the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises, Ludhiana, Govt. of Punjab. Navdeep Singh and Harpreet Singh of DBEE alongwith with their team members aided the success of the Job Fair. With this DBEE started the 7th State level MEGA JOB FAIR in Ludhiana District.

Mohammad Gulab, Vice Chairman Backfinco was the chief guest on the occasion, while Mulana Usman Ludhianvi, Lucky Sandhu, District President Punjab Youth Congress were the guests of honour.

Mohd Gulab said that the Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government is committed for the welfare of youth and that is why several such job fairs are being organised on a large scale in the state.

This year more than 500 manufacturing and service sector companies and 1000s of students from across colleges and institutes were invited for Umeed 2021. Of which, around thirty companies and close to 400 students grabbed the opportunity for entry level job placement. Notably companies ICICI Bank, SBI Life Insurance, Coca Cola, Rockman Industries, Airtel, Kangroo Industries, Exide Life Insurance, Vardhaman, Mansha Financial Services, etc. participated in the Job Fair.

Dr Ghazala the Chairperson of the college told that Umeed Job Fair was a grand success as more than 150 students were short listed for final selection by the companies and gave the credit to the faculty and students of the college for making it happen.
